Ramis house.jpg

Rami is in search for all those beautiful days for the backgrounds of My Little World!  For us, it is our hope to capture a certain essence of weather condition, certain light of day and the way it feels, by means of appropriate color tones and textures of brushstroke.

Inti-Illimani’s 2nd visit to July

Inti Visits 1.jpg

While on tour through North America, Inti-Illimani gave fans from Southern California a most wonderful performance at the Beckman Auditorium in Pasadena this last Oct. 7th.  We’re all delighted that the group was able to make time during their short stay in LA to make another visit to July Films (the first was 2 years ago at our old Burbank studio).  For dinner we served Vietnamese food, which included a special dish called spring rolls…

…The evening went on to include a pitch to Inti-Illimani of Mike Nguyen’s new idea for an animated feature which evolved from a Chilean folktale; and also, a screening of the updated My Little World reel.  Both were received with much enthusiasm!

We are very thankful to Inti-Illimani for their gracious visit, and as well for sharing their gifts to the music soundtrack for our My Little World journey!  In parting, group member Daniel Cantillana made a caricature of Mike and will remain as a reminder of the many beautiful memories of the evening visit!

Heena post.jpg

Heena Baek’s maquettes continue to inspire the animation performances of My Little World.  We’re now nearing the end of rough animation with 7 min. remaining to be completed.  Heena is also an accomplished animator and has contributed several key sequences to the film.  She recently had a new book published entitled Red Bean Porridge, Grandma, and Tiger (in Korean).  Her previous book, The Cloud Bread (also in Korean), was among the best selling children titles in Korea last year.

Harvest moon.jpg

Autumn has arrived and a time to celebrate the harvest moon. The Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated in various ways in respect to the various cultures around the world.  This year, it happens to be on October 6th

In Viet Nam, the Autumn Festival is called Tet Trung Thu.  With lanterns of all sizes and shapes, the children march round about their neighborhood, singing songs in praises to the beautiful moon above.  Afterward, they would all go home and sweet delicious moon cakes await them…too, in My Little World, from a concept art by Geefwee.
